FSSAI REGISTRATION

According to Food Safety and Standard Act,2006 Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) a person who start business of food have compulsory to register under food safety and Standard Act,2006 and have FSSAI license.

It checks for safe food manufacturing, storage, and handling practices of food business. A person need to get 14 digit number as FSSAI licence. According to FSSAI packaging guidelines, every business needs necessary to print those 14 digit number on packaging. Without registration and without FSSAI license number person can carry his food business under Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006.

Some important points of FSSAI

1.FSSAI REGISTRATION

A registration is necessary for those person who carry a business of any type of food manufacturing. A person sell these food to retailer, wholesaler and hawker only when he have register under FSS Act, 2006.

There are some conditions for those whose total turnover does not exceed Rs. 12 lakh:

  • Production capacity of food (other than milk and milk products and meat and meat products) does not exceed 100 kg/ltr per day, or
  • Procurement or handling and collection of milk is up to 500 litres of milk per day, or
  • Slaughtering capacity is 2 large animals or 10 small animals or 50 poultry birds per day or less.

A person who start food business submitting an application for registration in Form-A.

2.FSSAI license

FSSAI license are of 2 types:

  1. State FSSAI license-

Stat ESSAI license is for small and medium size food manufacture. State FSSAI license is issued by State Government. In State FSSAI license there is one important to keep in mind that your export is only in that particular state, not export are done outside state. The validity of this license is minimum 1 year and maximum 5 years.

     2.Central FSSAI license-

Central FSSAI license is for large size food. Who have large manufacture, large export to retailer, hawkers etc. Central FSSAI license is issued by Central government.A person who have central FSSAI license do export through different state and the annual turnover of these license have more than 20 crore. The validity of this license is minimum 1 years and maximum 5 years.

3.FSSAI RULES
  • Qualified employers.
  • Filling annual return.
  • Wear clean clothes.
  • Keep food covered.
  • Do not touch food when unwell.
  • Keep dustbin covered.
  • Use clean clothes for dusting.
  • Use waterproof bandage for cuts.
  • Wash hands before touch food.
  • Use filter water for washing fruits.
4.FSSAI PACKAGING RULES AND GUIDELINES
  • Every packed food shall carry label containing information.
  • The declaration shall be specified on the label.
  • Label in packed food shall be applied in such a way that they will not become separate from the container.
  • All information should be mention on label such as food name, code, quantity, date of manufacturing, date of expiry, instruction for users etc.
5.DOCUMENTS FOR FSSAI

Some important documents required registration

  • Aadhar card of the owner.
  • PAN card of the owner.
  • Passport size photograph of the owner.
  • Water bill.
  • Electricity bill.

Documents required for state FSSAI license

  • Declaration form.
  • Aadhar card.
  • Scanned signature.
  • Scanned copy of photographs.
  • MOA/AOA / Partnership deed.
  • Company’s GSTN.
  • Business plan & details of food products.
  • Authority letter in the favour of the consultant.
  • NOC from property owner along with rent agreementFSSAI Licensing.
  • Electricity bills of business / Factory / Warehouse.
  • In case of transporter applying for FSSAI license need to provide RC of vehicles along with a declaration.
  • NOC from Brand owner in case you are doing re-packaging business.

  • MOA/AOA / Partnership deed.
  • Company’s GSTN.
  • Business plan & details of food products.
  • Authority letter in the favour of the consultant.

  • In case of transporter applying for FSSAI license need to provide RC of vehicles along with a declaration.

  • Audited balance sheet in case Food Manufacturer.
  • Import/ export Code(IEC) in case FSSAI licenseis to be applied for international trade.
